The history of magnetism dates back to the ancient Greeks, who discovered the magnetic properties of lodestones. Over the centuries, the scientific study of magnetism has advanced significantly, leading to the discovery of electromagnetism and the development of many new technologies based on magnetic fields. In the 19th and 20th centuries, scientists discovered new properties of magnetic materials and developed magnetic storage devices and powerful magnetic imaging techniques, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
